Q1: Have Marathon threads been tested for harmful substances?
A: Yes. At the back of our colour chart you will find our Oeko-Tex Certification - Confidence in Textiles. To protect our clients, Marathon Polyester Embroidery thread have undertaken stringent testing by the Swiss Testing Instititute to ensure that they contain no harmful substances. Achieving Oeko-Tex Certification from the Swiss Textile Testing Institute (Oeko-Tex test No HKB 19820, Standard 100, Product Class 1) means that our Marathon polyester thread are suitable for use in the manufacture of articles for babies. This is why we claim that you can have Confidence in our Textiles and quality you can rely on.
Q2: Are Marathon threads colourfast?
A: Polyester threads are extremely colourfast no matter what detergents you use (refer to Q3). As for Viscose Rayon Threads, as long as garments are washed using a mild detergent containing no additives, Marathon threads will remain colourfast for the life of the garment. Many people prefer to use Viscose Rayons as rayon threads come in a rich variety of colours (397 colours) and especially because of their velvet-like silky lustre. Please refer to the washing instruction listed in the colour chart.
Q3: Which thread should I choose if garments are to be exposed to industrial laundering?
A: You will need to use Polyester threads when the embroidered garments are to be washed in chlorine bleach or exposed to harsh industrial laundering (eg hospital uniforms, military uniforms etc)
Q4: Are Marathon Viscose Rayon threads colourfast when exposed to perspiration and rubbing?
A: Marathon Viscose Rayon threads have been tested by the Australian Wool Testing Authority Ltd (trading as AWTA Textile Testing). The test was on Viscose Rayon Threads (Red #1050 and Navy Blue #1070). Here is the report1 and report2.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
All MARATHON colours are wash and boil fast. For best results, however, the following care are recommended: In case of the same pattern and order, it is necessary for customers to use the very threads complied with an equal Lot No. (Especially, when us in (right and left), symmetrically patterned-embroidery for clothes).
All embroidered items should be washed with mild detergents containing no additives of bleaching agents such as chlorine, peroxide or sodium carbonate. Never leave damp or wet embroidered items pressed together. This applies in particular to embroidery items that are washed for the first time. Large washing tub should be used to ensure free circulation of the items. Do not spin dry or wring out embroidered items.
RECOMMENDATION
Marathon thread is produced using well-chosen high quality materials, which is carefully blended with best coloring chemicals using state-of-art equipment. This process combined with our dedicated professionals allows us to produce consistent colours dye-lot after dye-lot. However, whenever possible, it is recommended to use same dy-lot to finish one project.
IRONING
All embroidered items should be on the reverse side or between two pieces of cloth. Dampen slightly before ironing fabric with steam iron at a low temperature settling.
STORAGE
High temperatures, direct vicinity of heating, moisture and sunlight must be avoided when embroidery thread is stored. Secure loose ends by tying a knot. Do not tape. Repackage thread in the plastic bag when not using to prevent exposure to dust and dirt, as well as guard against humidity.
NOTICE
The customer should assure herself, by preliminary tesing, that the dye fastness of the thread is suitable for her intended use. MARATHON threads are manufactured and quality controlled to the very high standards possible. However, since we have no control over washing dry cleaning and pressing, and since the value of the thread is so disproportional to the value of the material into which it is sewn, we are not responsible for any damage that could occur. |
