Polyfuse is a fusible water-soluble tearaway. It softens when washed and does not leave any bulk to your design but leaves a thin layer of polyester fiber which helps reduce shadowing in applique and pads the shapes.
Polyfuse for Machine Embroidery
Polyfuse can also be used for Machine Embroidery. Simply fuse the Polyfuse to the back of your item to be embroidered.
Embroider your design and tear away excess. The remaining Polyfuse will wash out with washing. To make things a little easier, dampen the tearaway before removing it.
Polyfuse applique technique
Step 1: Simply trace or copy your design onto the Polyfuse.
Step 2: Polyfuse can be put through your ink jet printer but it is advisable to clean the print head regularly.
Step 3: Cut your shape out and press onto the wrong side of your fabric using a medium/ hot cotton setting on the iron.
Step 4: Cut around your shape, leaving a 3/16" seam allowance.
Step 5: Either usa a glue stick to turn under the edges or hand tack the seam allowance. It can be used for needleturn applique without turning the edges.
Step 6: Place onto your project and stitch in place by hand or machine.
Step 7: The Polyfuse stays in the quilt and softens with washing or use.
Polyfuse for raw edge applique:
You can also use Polyfuse for raw edge applique. Simply fuse the Polyfuse to your fabric, cut out the shape and stitch in place using decorative stitches such as a blanket or buttonholed stitch.
We charge a flat rate of $17.00 except for 100cm x 100m backing rolls. We increase the flat rate without notifying our customers when Australia Post increases postage charges
Most of our orders weigh 1 – 3kg and our flat rate is based on what Australia Post charges us for 1 – 3kg.
We refund the difference if the freight costs less than the flat rate.
If it is safe to do so and if you give us an instruction to leave goods at your door or somewhere safe (preferably where it is not visible from the street), we have options to find the best freight cost rate (either Courier or Post service).
